What’s been said about our educational training

“This is the most transformational course we have ever been on”

Head Teacher

All my TAs have completed the first 3 modules of the online Therapeutic Teaching Course and have absolutely loved it! CPD in our locality has been pretty poor for ages but TPC has everyone hooked.

Head Teacher

“It is presented in such a way that you never sit there thinking “What the heck does that mean!”

Teaching Assistant

“I think Kids have so little control or power in their lives. Teaching them that they control the greatest thing they will ever have- their mind, is so important!

Teacher

“It is presented in such a way that you never sit there thinking “What the heck does that mean!”

Teaching Assistant

“I really enjoyed the situation videos, they were really fascinating to watch. I can now see a “problem child” in my class may be suffering from insecure attachment from doing this module and it has made me rethink my approach in speaking to him in the future!”

Class Teacher

I just wanted to say thank you so much! This has been the best training I have ever done and I am a SENCO, so I have done lots of training, some really good training, but this has been the most impactful!

SENCO

It just struck me that all the work we have been doing is now filtering through and we are really seeing the impact of it. We had a meeting with SLT about behaviour and some of the success stories of people using the therapeutic approach is absolutely fantastic! So thank you for all the work you have been doing, because it is really having an impact in our school

Last year we signed up for the whole staff TPC online training units. Our whole school SEMH has dropped by 50%. The classrooms are calmer and so are staff. We have also seen a drop in behaviour incidents.

Head Teacher

We went on to the therapeutic programme – this was mind-blowing, a real game changer for us!

Head Teacher

“After only three weeks I could give you hundreds of examples of the amazing, wonderful effect this is having on our children.”

Head Teacher
Grimsby

“Interesting and informative, easy to relate information to our students. Enables us to  identify attachment issues and easy to put in to practice”

High School Teacher

“Often training focuses on subjects but doesn’t include how we can change things or how to deal with matters. This training provided lots of strategies”

Pastoral

What’s been said about our foster training

“TPC therapy is innovative and responsive and we have developed an incredibly useful bank of e-learning with them which will be invaluable to the team. Shahana and team are very approachable, knowledgeable and listened well to all our requirements and they are incredibly hardworking which has made this such an easy piece of work to manage and deliver together.”

Ellen Milazzo - Head of Homicide Service
Victim Support

The training that TPC has provided is delivered in an accessible and easily digestible way that links trauma theory to real life application and has given us tools to enhance our practice. TPC took the time to get to know our service, to really understand the needs of our staff and clients. This is reflected in the bespoke training materials they have produced for us. TPC are friendly, professional, approachable, easy to work with and their recourses are of the highest quality. I would highly recommend TPC to any service or organisation looking to enhance their ability to support service users in a therapeutic and trauma informed way. Thank you TPC, you are fantastic!

Supervising Social worker

“Shahana explained everything in an amazing, understandable way! I have done other courses on trauma but it was nowhere near as good as Shahana’s explanation”

Foster Carer

I have recently taken on new carers to my caseload. This has really helped me with my relationships with the Foster Carers

Supervising Social Worker

I use this approach in everyday situations now with everyone that I meet. Honestly, it was the best training – I love it! It has helped in work and home life as well.

Supervising Social Worker

I feel I have more of a bond with my foster child and can understand how to approach challenging and difficult situations.

Foster Carer

The practical advice and experience enabled me to manage the issue and provide the necessary support and coping strategies and insight into parenting and caring for children in trauma.

Supervising Social Worker

Brilliant course lead by an experienced trainer who shared excellent advice and guidance and made the course so interesting and thought-provoking!

Supervising Social Worker

This information should be given to new foster carers, maybe in the training that has to be done before being passed as a carer and before placements arrive!

What’s been said about our therapy services

…When she comes back into class she is very calm and ready to learn…

Class Teacher

She feels she is able to deal with difficult situations in class and outside more quickly. A is able to get a lot off her mind in play therapy and have that one to one time with someone which she rarely gets so…

Class Teacher

… Her own opinion of herself is much more a positive one which is lovely to hear after such a long time with a negative perspective….

Teacher

Play therapy has given A confidence within herself and raised her self esteem…

Teacher

“From my experience of pupils from my class going to play therapy I think that it is a valuable time for children to help them prepare mentally for their school life and deal with issues that may affect their learning.  It has been a relief for some children to be able to go somewhere safe in school to get whatever it is on their mind out in a way they feels most comfortable to express.

Class Teacher

I would greatly recommend this to other schools as it is such an important and needed intervention for children who need some time to deal with issues outside of school, confidence and self-esteem issues to prepare them for learning.  It gives those children a place to release these emotions and provides them with someone to talk to”

Year 6 Class Teacher

“If you have a big problem you can come to TPC and you will feel better”

Year 4 child

“I think play therapy is perfect for children who have emotional needs…It’s a chance for them to sort out their anxieties….Since Play Therapy, P has gained more confidence and is generally happier, his behaviour has improved as well”

Reception Teacher

“She helped me cope with all my problems”

Child aged 8

“Reliable, effective and fantastic service…..wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!”

Head Teacher

“I have noticed a dramatic change in P over the last few months…she is much happier in school, calmer in class, able to express her emotions and does not get angry as easily….

Play Therapy has definitely helped! Thank You!!”

Year 6 Teacher

We have worked with TPC Therapy for several years, providing individual and occasionally group play therapy alongside quality whole school training to support our most vulnerable pupils with additional needs.

We have seen significant improvements in pupil behaviour and self -esteem as well as improving staff understanding and management of pupils.

Through play in a caring, safe environment pupils understand their very complex lives and complex issues and begin to manage any difficulties.

There is a team around the child approach linking parents/carers, staff and SENCO to effectively meet the needs and improve the lives of pupils.

Additionally, quality records and reviews are provided to evidence support for pupils and show impact of the therapy.

What’s been said about our classrooms

“I think it works really well after lunchtime when they are overstimulated. They are coming in and it is giving them a space to calm down before they actually start on work. It is solving a lot of issues that would have been in place beforehand.”

Teacher

“I know for a fact that there is a huge impact on wellbeing- just for the fact they are in the classrooms! Parents gave feedback on the children’s transitions recently, they are saying the kids can’t wait to come to school! Before they were not accessing any learning. But they are all sat around the table doing phonics, So, we are all excited! I can’t thank you enough! It has been incredible. I am so glad I called you. I have no before and after evidence but I do have a huge amount of experience in the field and have opened other provisions before, even with small classrooms and it hasn’t been like this!

It has been such a privilege to do this with you. they are all going full-time – these kids have not done a full day in years. They are all saying I can’t wait to come back.

The room definitely has a really calm feel about it and in my opinion (although still early days) this is having an effect on the children. The table setup has had a positive impact on communication activities – the children are far more cohesive and work collaboratively. Initially, I had concerns about the children not having trays for their belongings, but having given each table a basket, the children now have collective responsibility for looking after their belongings, and we no longer have letters stuffed in trays (never to make it home!).

We love the classroom and we are so glad that we had the refurbishment. It is very much a focal point of the school – visitors love it, the younger children enjoy popping in to see it, and it has become the staff meeting room of choice!

Year 6 Class Teacher - Crosthwaite primary

We had such an overwhelmingly positive reaction from pupils, parents and staff that we then decided to refurbish our KS2 classrooms in this manner. Our children say that the refurbished classrooms are comfortable and enable them to concentrate more. Staff say they have more connection with the children as those at the back are seated at higher tables so have direct eye contact with the teacher and are not obscured by pupils in front. The children say the rooms have a ‘family’ feel and they can concentrate better.
They enjoy the flexible seating approach and often choose to lie on the floor or sit on the floor with a lap tray in front of them at which they work. Others stand or sit at the high tables. There is a noticeable improvement in concentration on work activities for children with ADHD. It can look very strange and different when visitors are in school but they all remark on how quiet and focused the children are.
Throughout school, we have seen a vast improvement in behaviour and relationships between pupils and they take more responsibility for looking after resources and keeping school tidy. We are so convinced of the positive benefits on children’s wellbeing that the changes to the environment have had that we are now about to refurbish the KS1 classrooms to create therapeutic style classrooms for our 5 – 7 year olds.

“I have never seen the children this calm”

Class Teacher - Whitefield Primary School
Liverpool

“The impact is really hard to put into words. We have happy children who love coming to school and who want to learn. We have children who no longer attack staff, kick in walls and trash rooms!”

Personalised Learning Pathways Manager
Southampton

“We have seen the benefits of this room in such a short space of time. Children who were previously reluctant to come in, are now here on time, ready to learn. Children with additional needs are able to self-regulate and we have even experienced a child taking a nap on the couch for 10 minutes and then returning to their learning more refreshed!

I would never have imagined it having such a positive effect on our children, but it does – it works!”

Head Teacher - Worsley Menses Primary
Wigan

“For children who have complex trauma backgrounds and children who are anxious the space feels safe and somewhere where they will be supported and allowed to make mistakes. The space tells them that the staff and the school care about them. However, the classroom does not only support children with attachment and trauma needs. All our children feel that learning in this space is easier because they feel calm and have space to think. The rooms have had a positive impact on staff wellbeing and now all our meetings are held there because they are the best places in the school to work and think creatively.”
