Our CPD and twilight sessions are designed to close the gap between theory and practice and inspire changes in thought and approaches. Sessions are 1-3 hours and can be adapted to suit your needs.
Help give staff insight into key issues and give them tangible, practical strategies and solutions they can do to make a difference in their work.

An eye opening session that will benefit everyone with children.

Connection vs disconnection when approaching behaviour. Childhood trauma, stress and insecure attachment. Trauma informed, therapeutic responses.
Fostering is so rewarding but that doesn’t mean it isn’t difficult at times, especially when trying to support children with their behaviour! This session looks at how we can approach behaviour whilst maintaining connection and using regulation strategies in a therapeutic, trauma informed way. We look at how trauma affects the brain and behaviour, and why conventional behaviour management strategies might not work. We then look at what you can do instead! In this session we explore therapeutic language and approaches that are underpinned by neuroscience and theory but in a practical, tangible way that includes examples and scenarios to bring it all to life.

Teenagers, insecure attachment and it’s impact on behaviour. Technology, self-harm, stealing.
Workshop 2-3 hours
Caring for teenagers can be tricky, especially when they have been through challenging, traumatic experiences in their lives. Often their behaviour shows us they are struggling, but what do you do when they are stealing, self-harming, running away or addicted to social media and technology. In this session we will look at how insecure attachment influences young people’s thoughts, beliefs, responses and behaviours. We will then look at specific scenarios that are challenging to navigate like stealing, self-harm, running away, being addicted to technology and getting involved with partners who might not be good for them! We will focus on what might be happening internally for young people and what you can do to support them from a trauma informed, therapeutic approach.
