How childhood trauma and difficult behaviour are linked and what to do to help
Learn how childhood trauma and adversity impact’s children’s brain development, thoughts, beliefs and behaviours and explore the ‘why’ behind some of the challenging behaviour you are seeing. Then learn how to support your children with regard to responses, language, relationship building and boundaries that do not include punishment, following a trauma informed framework.
How technology and social media impacts children and how to take some control back at home
In this session we will explore the impact that social media, technology and gaming have on children and young people’s mental health, wellbeing and behaviour. We will look at why children get addicted to their technology, how trauma can increase usage, and what you can do to help support them. An eye opening session that will benefit everyone with children.
What attachment aware means and how make changes that will meet your children’s needs
You may have done training on attachment before, but do you know how a child’s experience of attachment shows up in children’s behaviour and relationships on a practical day to day basis? Do you know how school can trigger insecure attachment and how some behaviour strategies at home can? This session gets specific and explores how children’s attachment experiences are affecting their behaviour, thoughts, beliefs and expectations, we then look at what you can actually do about it in your approaches.
Helping children self-regulate and manage their emotions
Increasing numbers of children are struggling to calm down and are reaching a state of dysregulation in response to difficult situations. Learn how to help children understand and manage their emotions and behaviours in school with particular attention on how to help them self-regulate and calm down. This session includes step by step approaches, techniques and strategies.
Developing emotional intelligence vs stopping ‘bad’ behaviour
Learn how behaviour and mental health are linked and reframe ‘bad behaviour.’ Learn how to move away from punitive, disconnection and toward connective approaches that will help children feel emotionally safe and develop their emotional intelligence skills. Help them manage their own behaviour and have insight into their emotions. In this session we will tentatively challenge perceptions and reframe our role when approaching difficult behaviour. Underpinned by trauma informed and attachment aware approaches.
Supporting your child with contact
Contact can be very difficult for both carers and the children and often feels out of your control. For the children it can leave them unsettled, increasing challenging behaviour. In this session we will look at strategies and tips to help your child navigate contact and give you the tools to enhance feelings of emotional safety before and after. We will also look at how to manage cancelled contact sessions or difficult circumstances that might arise in contact.
Creating a whole agency therapeutic approach: what does it look like and where to begin
This is an introductory session to our whole agency therapeutic approach designed for SSW and management who want a wrap around approach but don’t know where to begin. This session explores why a whole agency approach is so vital to improving outcomes for children with close attention on retention, relationships and burn out. We will look at our wrap around care package and our vision for raising standards in the care sector.
